OUR SAUSD CHILDREN MATTER!

1.  In SAUSD almost 70% of students are not meeting basic reading standards, and almost 80% are not meeting basic math standards.  

Breakdown by Grade Level:

• Elementary School: 28% proficient in reading (72% are FAILING); 22% proficient in math. (78 % are FAILING)
• Middle School: 25% proficient in reading; (75 % are FAILING) 15% proficient in math (85 % are FAILING).
• High School: 43% proficient in reading (57% are FAILING) 14% proficient in math (86% are FAILING)

2.  Based on the above SAUSD test cores, our children are promoted to the next grade level for completing the academic year and NOT because they are proficient in the basic fundamentals of Reading, English, Math, Writing and Science.  

3.  Although enrollment has declined to 30,000 students, yet the District's expenses have significantly increased.
